Thanks Jareth 96 for posting these episodes. They aren't available in the U.S. yet. I truly like Bradley Walsh too and believe they are fashioning him after Jerry Orbach's character so I wonder about the fate of his unmarried daughter as well. Harriet Walter's character has now departed and George's last episode was the same as James Steel's. I do like Peter Davison however. Alesha was promoted to senior CPS somewhere as mentioned in S7E1. I will truly miss her. I thought she was great. senior CPS somewhere

As an American, I began watching L&O many years ago. Then came the sequels L&O-SVU and L&O-Criminal Intent. There was even a 4th - L&O-Trial by Jury but it didn't make it. When I discovered L&O UK, I was thrilled. I have enjoyed watching it. I don't understand why they draw stories from us. Surely the UK has enough crime to pull stories from but they do add twists to make the episodes interesting. I miss James, Alesha & Matt though. I don't think I'm gonna like Kate but I'll give her a chance.

An elderly woman is found dead in her flat, apparently killed during a robbery gone wrong. The dead woman's granddaughter, however, implicates the live-in carer, who in turn suggests that the granddaughter had tried been trying to starve the woman to death.

Fun and viewer review
Bradley Walsh, the LAST of the original cast members. He's clearly modeled after Jerry Orbach, let's hope he has Orbach's staying power. A couple episodes back they introduced Ronnie's daughter and if they follow US version of these characters, that doesn't bode well for the daughter. I like Sam but he needs to shave! The new head cop hasn't grown on me yet. I like the spirit in the new Lawyer, let's see how she does with some face time and pressure. I love this show!

Episode summary
A police officer is killed in a shoot out with a drug dealer. Based on the testimony of another dealer, Brooks and Devlin must determine whether back up was slow to arrive and left the officer to die because he was gay.

Fun and viewer review
George Castle: Can I just remind you that we owe our whole existence to a good relationship with the police? If we go after this, I will have to explain to the DPP exactly why we are committing institutional suicide.
Alesha Phillips: So we never prosecute police because we need their goodwill?
George Castle: No, correction, we never prosecute anyone unless we have a rock-solid case, and manslaughter-gross negligence is one hell of a leap.
(Brooks and Devlin return to CID after a tough conversation with Ray Griffin's sergeant.)
DS Devlin: Happy now, or is there someone you've omitted to piss off?
DS Brooks: This is how we do it, poke 'em and see if they bite.
DS Devlin: No, not when it's one of ours, [ shouting ] and not when he's grieving for one of his boys!
DS Brooks: So what, everyone here gets a free pass, do they?
DS Devlin: No, they get what everyone else gets, some basic courtesy and a little respect.
DS Brooks: Let me explain something to you, son, just so as we understand each other. We set an example to the rest of society. So if anyone here falls below that standard, the gloves are off. So if people get a bit prickly or their feelings get hurt, that is tough. I can live with that. Got it?
DI Chandler: Do we believe Carson?
DS Brooks: Well, why would he lie?
DS Devlin: Same reason why dogs piss on lampposts — it's their nature.

Episode summary
A young girl goes missing on the way to her guitar lesson. A week later, she is found murdered, and CCTV footage leads detectives to a viable suspect for the kidnapping.

Fun and viewer review
Fast-paced, gripping and character-driven storytelling which allowed viewers to glide effortlessly through a dark and extremely twisty plot. Various story seeds were sown throughout and were cleverly unravelled for the viewer as the story unfolded. Some memorable lines from the episode include:
"What's a little provocation between friends?"
"You might as well have congratulated her on hitting a major artery."
"He was only meant to hide her."
Along with the effective final court scenes, the stabbing outside the court was one of the darkest moments of the story and made for a jaw-dropping twist, leaving the viewer wanting more even before the halfway point. Simply one of the best episode of Law & Order: UK I've seen. I'm certainly looking forward to more from Emilia di Girolamo.

Episode summary
A bipolar homeless man is found beaten unconscious. An angry resident of the neighbourhood is charged with the premeditated attack.

Fun and viewer review
James Steel: It doesn't matter what Kirk did. Harry Morgan's actions can't go unpunished. I'll make the jury see that.
George Castle: It could be tougher than you think. We're all potential vigilantes, deep down. If I had been through what Harry Morgan had been through, I might be tempted to have a go myself.
James Steel: And beat a man unconscious?
George Castle: We're all liberals until the front garden is invaded, James. The jury will be imagining what they would do in the same situation. We can't afford for Harry Morgan to become a cause célèbre, James. The last thing we want is a middle-class vigilante hero, so you go into that court and you expose him for the thug that he is.
Harry Morgan: Look, why am I having to defend myself? And why do you people always take their side?
Alesha Phillips: Whose side?
Harry Morgan: The inadequates! The people who can't function in society. What about my rights? And I'm not a bigot. I'm an architect. I read The Guardian, for crying out loud.
Alesha Phillips: Look, I understand how desperate you must feel.
Harry Morgan: No, you don't. [ sigh ] My son hates me because Kirk got inside his head and turned him against me, and he has made my life a living nightmare.
James Steel: I want to find out who did this to you.
Roland Kirk: I wouldn't bother. The system don't work for people like me, you know that. It's for ordinary people with orderly lives, people with order in their lives, see? Don't put any trust in me, mate.

Episode summary
A man is found lying in a park with his kidney missing. When the kidney recipient's father and doctor are prosecuted for the assault, George must act as a defence attorney for an old friend.

Fun and viewer review
James Steel: What do you think gave you the right to do this?
Mr John Reberty: Let me tell you about Darren McKenzie, because when I found he was a perfect match, I looked into his life. He ran down a young girl and killed her. Nothing good has come of Darren McKenzie on this planet, but I changed that. When his kidney went into Joanna Woodleigh, his existence had meaning, he'd done something good for the first time in his life.
James Steel: Do you even hear what you're saying? Darren McKenzie did not volunteer to donate. You don't get to make that choice for him.
Mr John Reberty: I get to make those choices everyday. That's what surgeons do. The system failed her. I didn't. You might think you're better than me, but you couldn't do what I do. I have lost count of the lives I have saved, whereas you, you have never made a tough decision in your life.

Episode summary
Following the DPS investigation of the shooting of an informant by a detective, Devlin looks into the detective's past which leads to an investigation of Brooks for stealing drugs six years earlier.

Fun and viewer review
Alesha Phillips: How hard did you try, James?
James Steel: I'm sorry?
Alesha Phillips: Well, you didn't push him, did you? He gave you the answer you wanted. You wanted him on trial all along.
James Steel: Uh, I did what George sent me to do. Am I happy to be prosecuting Jimmy Valentine? Yeah, he's a policeman who shot a civilian.
Alesha Phillips: So we make an example of him, rather than let police gain crucial intelligence on a major drug baron?
James Steel: The police want corruption held to account. You ask Matt and Ronnie. They want Valentine in court. I'm doing this for them.
Alesha Phillips: What if we lose? Valentine walks free, and we've gained nothing.
James Steel: I won't lose. It's time. Are you with me?
DS Brooks: My old man used to say, 'There's no such thing as a friend. Friends will always let you down.' I used to look at him and think, 'What a miserable old bastard.' I'd argue with him and say, 'Dad, you're wrong, mate.' Huh, I'll tell you what, Matty, I bet he's looking down at me now, laughing his head off.
DS Devlin: Look, Ron, it gives me no pleasure—
DS Brooks: Jimmy Valentine bought my fish for me today, all right? It felt like he was buying me off.

episode summary
A hospital evacuation leads to the discovery of a body. Investigation by DSs Ronnie Brooks and Matt Devlin leads them to King's Cross, where a number of people are upset by changes to the area. Under pressure from DI Natalie Chandler, the officers believe they have identified the murderer, but the evidence is less than overwhelming. Faced with a skilled defence barrister, Crown Prosecutors James Steel and Alesha Phillips team up with the detectives to secure enough evidence to prevent the collapse of the trial.

fun and viewer review
Too bad this episode is an exact copy, almost word for word of an episode of regular Law and Order in Season 2, Ep 18: called 'Cradle to Grave'. I knew I had seen it before and I knew what was going to happen so it was uninteresting to me. Seriously, the words and everything were the same. I wouldn't have known if I didn't just watch the entire 2nd season. So the even though I was very exited to learn about British law, the episode was just disappointing. I hope the whole series doesn't continue to copy other episodes!!

Episode summary
A 13-year-old boy is found kicked to death at Euston rail station. DSs Ronnie Brooks and Matt Devlin discover that the boy's mother is a reformed drug-addict whose boyfriend is suspected of physically abusing her son, and are concerned about events at the boy's foster home. When the case comes to trial, the accused is represented by James Steel's ex-girlfriend, who advances the novel line of defence that the accused was genetically predisposed towards murder.

Fun and viewer review
This episode flows very well and various aspects of Jason's sad life are revealed during the initial investigation and the proceeding trial. One really feels for all the victims in this tragic tale.
The main characters still need to "bed down" so more, their interactions are still wooden and need to appear much more natural and off-the-cuff. I look forward to some back-story episodes to give them more rounded personalities and help the actors to start to fit into the roles. I have great hopes as the season moves on that we are going to see some first class performances that rival the US counterpart.
